Chronic Magnolia b-day cakes

In my final full day here in NYC, I went site seeing. This includes taking a trip to the mother ship aka Fox News studios, and Trump Tower. I also stopped by the NBC studios and saw their WWE display. Nice to see the belts that up close.

I went out tonight to the now even more famous Magnolia bakery to mack on some cupcakes. If you haven't seen theSNL music video for 'Chronicles of Narnia"--then view it here:

You will understand the photos. Da frosting on the cupcakes are da bomb.

So its back to warm Ft. Myers and my job. But I really needed a break away from the hustle and bustle of work. I had a very fun time here and will come back later this year for my friend's wedding. I could see myself moving here in a few years, but you never know with me.

Until next time.

Six feet under the table

Here I am still a little hung over from last night partying hard in NYC. My friends and I went to the Village and had a blast. A lot of peeps from college showed up and we went bar hopping. We went to the world famous Chummley's, one of my favorite places, for a beer. It is where all the literary greats like Hemmingway, Fitzgerald, Wolfe, and all the famous writers of the time hung out, The walls are lined with pictures and book covers. Oh the stories. There's a corner for those who were blacklisted nduring MacCarthy's reign of terror, and a booth where Fitzgerald and his wife consumated their marriage. I just love the aura about the place.

We went to a few other bars. In one we started to sing "What a Fool Believes" by Michale McDonald when it came over the speakers. A few girls were impressed.

My friend paid to get ny palm read. She seemed to nail everything on the head when she talked about me. Creative, heard working, but private, I am also stubborn and when I want to get something, I won't take no for an answer. She said when I get frustated to mediate. She also said this year would be a good year for me. I would be making good money, I had asked about my love life and she said I am a very private person, and to foucs on what I want and get it.

Then we hit thee spot. It was a place I went to last time I went to NYC. It's a karaoke bar in Chinatown. Last time I came in, it wasn't packed, but last night it was packed. A bunch of gay guys were there singing, not very well at all. I put in my request and sure enough, I did get the crowd going. I am envious of my friend, who had did a song and impressed Loren Ambrose--if you don't know her, she is the red head in "Six Feet Under" and "Can't Hardly Wait". They did a duet later in the night that I recommended. She had a big ring on her finger and a boyfriend, so she was unavailable, but was a fun gal to hang out with. My friend is enagaged, but she seemed a bit flirty with him. She let us know Uma Thurman was in nthe bar last week. It has become somewhat of a celebrity hot spot.

Today on my offical 30th b-day, I am playing it by ear. I will post when I can.

And it just gets weirder

Three day until B-day, and I am chomping at the bit to get out of Florida for a few days. But this week has come with an interesting day yesterday, and probably the weirdest story I ever covered. It's a sweeps piece, meaning its not going to show for a week or two, which gives me the opprotunity to actually do a good job on it. But there is another reason why we are doing this carefully....

Beware, this is a bit graphic.

I was aware that the reporter I report with frequently, Amy, had set up this story about what they call a "passion party." Basically, it's like a tupperware party except with adult toys and lotions. This is an all-woman thing, but I was allowed in--basically being one of the only men to attend one. It started okay, with the ladies sampling and tasting lotions. Then the seller asked the females to go to the bathroom and rub this one lotion in their private area. One woman, who was a seller herself, mentioned she got several "o's" from it. Then came the toys. I won't get into that--just too disturbing. I was obviously blushing more than I blushed before. If you want the whole story, you'll just have to ask me to e-mail it. I don't want to be kicked off of this site.

Anyhow, I will try to bring you the stories from NYC when I get back, if I can remember them (I will have pictures *lol*) so stay tuned and I will let you know what its like to be "in my 30's".

One week to go and choas choas choas

Hey all,

Sorry about not posting, but know I do have a lot to say, so try to keep up.

First the drama, or as I like to call it "As Ft. Myers Turns".

It's been busy at the station the last couple of weeks due to a double murder happening in the area, and they arrested a suspect on Wednesday. It's been a high profile case, as the couple (Michelle and Steven Andrews) was found dead in their gated community Dec. 27. There was a 911 call from their house to police, and when they got their, their 2 year old baby was by the phone. The jury is still out on if the baby actually called or the killer did.

(BTW, they couple was white and both 28, so hence the high profile stuff. No to be racist, but that's news biz for you.)

The sheriff's office has been very hush hush on the case, but rumors started immediately that the husband had an affair, and the killer was the other woman's boyfriend or husband. The sheriff announced that they had a "person of interest" a few days after the murders and said that the community should not worry, because "this was an isolated incident".

Then came this week, when they did announce a suspect. They only announced the name, said DNA evidence lead them to him, and that the Steven Andrews was involved in a affair with the suspect's girlfriend. All of the stations and newspapers but us had a mug of him, as he was jail before. We heard that the sheriff's department was possibly doing an internal investiagtion on possible leaks to the media. Hence why the case has been so hush hush. That and they want to keep the integrity of the case.

The Assocaited Press and the local paper both had a name of the girlfriend, but it was not varified. But we did some investiating and did find that the it was the right name. However, we don't know much about her, as their isn't much info on her, but we do know where she graduated, where she resides, that she has a kid, and is possibly married to the suspect. We figure she is in Orlando with her brother, where the suspect was formally arrested Wednesday afternoon. She did talk to a few newspapers, saying she didd know about the murder after the fact, but didn't report it. This could be because she had a child and was worried for her.

There are forums up on this case and I wouldn't be surprised if Court TV picked it up or possible dateline when it goes to trial.

Okay, now on to the soon-to-be 30 year old.

I leave Jan. 21 for NYC. By the sounds of it, it will be a good time, as my friends are figuring out where they want to take me. I know karaoke is a definate and a dinner a Chumley's is something I wanted to do since my last trip there. I might consider taking a side trip to Jersey to see Jay and Silent Bob's Secret stash as well.

Right now it seems that I am still not part of the gang here yet. Part of it is that I don't go out with them that much and when I do, its hard to try to start a conversation with them. I have been in the "invisible person" funk lately. I say something and no one responds. But I think it will take a little longer. A couple of things coming up including my b-day should hopeful cement more friendships here.

That's all for now. Laters.

In Why See

New Year started off to a rocky start...

Had to cover a fire after a long and complicated days at work. I wasn't happy spending the ball drop at work with no one around. I wanted to be at my favorite bar where one of my friends from work was gonna hook me up with some lady to give me a New Years kiss. Maybe next year.

So, 18 days and counting and I am not going to be in Cape Coral for my b-day, but bitter cold New York. But I want to celebrate with my friends there. I have known them a long time and I get a long with them well. And I wanted to celebrate with them, because it will be a memorable time. Only $150 for my ticket too, which is great. I need to get out of town and spend time with friends really really bad.

I still have some vacation days, but work doesn't want me to take them off. I was suppose to use them before Feb. 1, but I was assured by my boss that I could use them next month. (We are starting sweeps early this time around.) I might ask for it to be in March, since there maybe more going on. Maybe a trip to Montana?

Into the home stretch.

Laters.
