Much ado about...

NOTHING!!!!!

Ernesto was as dull as "Slam Dunk Ernest". Just a little rain and no wind. Just a lot of overtime. Although I did shoot a great stand up with the a visiting reporter--it involves a pelican and let's just say the timing was great. No poo involved either. I also did a live shot for the ABC station in Las Vegas.

So now its back to the grind, hoping I can get some rest. As much chaos as there was, I think we are ready for another hurricane.

Riders of the Storm

Sorry I haven't posted--been very busy with, sigh, work.

I am in my new shift, which has been something to get used to. The first week was daysides for three days, which meant my sleep schedule was off. Which meant I had to sleep when I was off.

All this plus one of my friends at work, Bobby D., moved very abruptly. We sent him off, as everyone loved him at the station. He was a staple in the market and people from other stations even came to send him off. He moved to Vegas, and all I gotta say is good luck, and I'll visit when I can.

He worked karaoke on Wednesday which means we are down three nights at the bar. I have been work parts of shifts, but its hard when you go live and get in about midnight when the show starts at 10:00. We are trying to fix the problem, but it may take a few weeks.

Which brings me to the next two days. No covering at all at the bar. I am stuck on two 12 hour shifts at the station due to Tropical Storm Ernesto. It's gonna most likely skirt us, which means a bad storm, but no severe damage. Maybe a tree on a house here or there.

I am off when the storm will most likely hit, so I get to be on the sidelines. Question is will it be here or my place.

Anyhow, I get a lot of stuff to do, and hopefully I can get some rest. I'll let you know if I survive. The work, not the storm.

Two hopper

Hi all,

It's been kind of rough getting back to work. Nothing was working for a while, and my boss has been on me to improve my editing skills. This after I have been rushed for time the past week. Ugh!

I got my computer, although it's the runt of the litter. I am in the midst of getting an operating system, but I brought back my screenwriting software, and I am going to try to find some editing software that will actually work on it.

And in the "it didn't happen sooner?" department, I am going to be in a south west Florida hip hop magazine called "Crown" next month. My reporter and I were at this "Hip Hop Youth Summit" focusing on positive hip hop. The magazine interviewed her for an article, and I happened to be in the picture...

I was hoping to be interviewed, with my knowledge of old school rap, but hey, I made it in it anyway.

My flight is booked for the wedding in October. Still need to get a nice new suit to wear--figuring a nice pimp suit. lol. Plus Halloween is 74 days away--the bar is counting down to the big bash. I am dj-ing the night more than likely, so I am considering costumes as we speak. Any suggestions?

When the Q's away...

Greetings from Montana...

After two crowded flights, I got here Monday to nice, sunny weather. It was hot here before I came (temps were hotter than Florida, but not as humid) but now it's the type of weather I like--no rain. lol. I was also lucky that tropical storm Chris broke up. It would have meant my vay-cay would have been cut short.

So how is it? It is good to see the family. It's been a year since I saw them, as its been about a year since I got my job in Florida. My dad is now up in Alaska fishing, but I did see him before he left. And I have been spending much needed time with mom, and getting things done. I have gotten some old tapes that I am transferring to dvd--student films and some old UFC tapes.

I did come home to some sad news. A classmate of mine, Cpl. Phil Baucus, died overseas in Iraq. He was a marine and graduated the same year as me. He was also the nephew of US senator Max Baucus. He was killed Sunday by a suicide bomber. I knew him and his wife and my condolences to the family.

On a happier note, when I get back home, I get my own computer. The station is getting rid of their old ones, so I was lucky enough to get my name drawn to get one of them. I am bringing back my screenwriting software, and getting some video editing software as well. Time to get back to being creative.

Before then, a little more rest.
